About the Item
Pair Of Louis XV Lastronate Flap Dressers, rare pair of 18th-century walnut and burl walnut slab tiered chests of drawers from the Lombard-Venetian area, in good condition. The front is punctuated by three and a half drawers separated by crosspieces, finely filleted and panelled, decorated with briar reserves within a shaped filleted and herringbone-panelled frame. The same decoration is taken up on the straight sides and the calatoia top.
The downhaul conceals six small drawers inside. An additional secret drawer is found in the side molding under the top shelf.
Cornices and moldings are all head wood. This rare pair of eighteenth-century flap furniture rests on curly feet and has a frame constructed of fir wood, with original finials and locks.
The excellent quality of the woods and their skilful combination with unique cabinetmaking skill distinguishes this pair of extraordinary 18th-century furniture, a pendant rarely found on the market.
They come from a private Milanese collection.
