Paul Frankl Mahogany "Station Wagon" Dresser for Johnson Furniture, 1940s

About the Item

An uncommon and coveted "Station Wagon" dresser by Paul Frankl, manufactured by Johnson Furniture in the 1940s. This example is executed in Philippine mahogany and maple with thick leather handles and brass hardware. The dresser features solid, heavy duty construction with smooth sliding, solid oak drawers. The mahogany case has been lovingly refinished, and the maple has been left with gentle patina, so the two contrast beautifully with each other. The leather handles were expertly replaced a few decades back and show incredible patina and character. They are very strong and will last many more decades. The brass hardware is original and also displays soft, lovely patina.
