About the Item

An Extremely Attractive Mid 18th Century George II Period Oak Kitchen Cupboard, Or Linen Press, Retaining Exceptional Untouched Colour And Surface Throughout, Having Matchstick Fluted Carved Decoration And Two Panelled Doors Flanked By Elegant Fluted Half Turned Coloumns To Each Corner, Enclosing Two Fixed Shelves, Over Three Short And Two Long Drawers With Replacement Brass Handles, Raised On Replacement Shaped Bracket Feet.  This extremely charming and useful Georgian cupboard is incredibly attractive. One of the nicest of its type that we have come across in quite some time it boasts some excellent additional features to the norm, but also retains the most wonderful colour, quite a combination.  The top has some lovely carved decoration and this helps lift the piece into a different bracket of country furniture with it showing much more sophistication than normally found in items from the country.  It is also of course incredibly practical with lots and lots of storage, yet somehow unlike many of these oak housekeeper type cabinets the proportions are relatively small and sensible allowing it to be used in just about any size space and in any type of home.  Overall the condition is very good indeed and it is very much fit for original purpose. The handles and feet have both been replaced, but with a very similar style to what would probably have been in place originally and therefore they sit extremely well on the piece.  As with all items we offer for sale this piece has been inspected by our highly skilled antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being placed on sale which means it is ready for immediate placement into the home.  Circa 1750.  Height 71.5in. Width 49in. Depth 19.25in.
