18th Century French Louis XVI Flame Mahogany Secretary or Drop Leaf Desk

About the Item

A fine late 18th century French Louis XVI Secretary or drop leaf desk made of beautiful flame mahogany. This very good quality secretaire a abattant, secretary or drop leaf desk dates back to circa 1780 and has a provenance from Paris, France. Constructed with durable flame mahogany wood, the inside additionally with mahogany veneer. The original top and sides are intricately lined with their original brass fittings. Further adding to the importance of this beautiful and functional piece, there is a generously sized drawer which bears the makers stamped mark and is numbered. Name of the ebeniste is however unknown. Original keys. Measures: 31 3/8" W x 15" D x 54 3/4" H This 18th Century French Louis XVI Flame Mahogany Secretary or Drop Leaf Desk will enhance any setting.
