Antique Country French Secretary Desk ~ Secretaire

About the Item

Antique Country French Secretary Desk ~ Secretaire represents the understated elegance of the genre, with stately lines accentuated with subtle molding and scrolled detail making it the perfect choice to blend with a wide variety of decors and styles! Utilizing quarter-sawn oak, it features a slant-front top with graceful curvature that drops down to be supported by internal brass braces, revealing a spacious writing surface, a full width cubby hole and six interior drawers. Under the desk are three full width exterior drawers, each finely molded and fitted with shield-shaped key guards that match the one on the slant front above. Chamfered panels appear on each side, with an undulating scrolled apron wrapping all around, fitted with four subtly scrolled legs tipped with cloven hoof style feet. An amazing work station, perfect for laptops, students and the like, that folds up to take the same amount of floor space as a chest of drawers! Circa mid-1900s Measures 40H x 42W x 20D; surface 30H
