About the Item
Antique Country French Secretary ~ Desk is a wonderful example of the combination of fine craftsmanship with an efficient, space-saving design. Perfect for providing a convenient work surface and storage in any room, especially the bedroom and kitchen! Very popular as a recipe center or student desk, such secretaries, when closed, add a style element to the room yet with the two drawers and drop front desk surface provide efficiency that is hard to beat. This example, carved from solid oak, features Louis XIV-inspired styling with fine molded detail and stylized floral and foliate themes set upon an arbalette facade, French for archer's bow. Desk opens to reveal not only a work surface perfect for a laptop or tablet, but also cubby holes and four small interior drawers for excellent functionality. Cast brass key guards add a nice visual accent. Handsome cabriole legs and undulating apron are carved with shell, foliate and lion's paw motifs, producing timeless styling your family will enjoy for generations!
