Antique Genuine Northern Swedish Gustavian Style Country Escritoire or Secretary
About the Item
Genuine antique Swedish escritoire. This escritoire, or secretary desk, is an authentic Swedish country house furniture piece in Gustavian style. Made in northern Sweden around 1820 to 1840, it features a solid pine frame with three large drawers in working condition. The writing desk has an interior with drawers behind it, and it stands on original tall tapered legs with the original paint and old hardware. The escritoire still has the locks, but the key is missing.
There is a smaller, older repair on the front left side of the writing desk, as well as a minor repair on the inside edge, see pictures. The frame is healthy and solid. The depth, including the trim at the bottom, is 53 cm. The depth with the writing desk folded down is 91 cm. The height to the writing desk when folded down is 79.5 cm. This makes it suitable as a desk with room for a laptop.
