English Walnut Secretary

About the Item

English walnut secretary, the top with cove cornice above double ''tombstone''raised panel doors and pull out candle slides; the fitted interior with adjustable shelves, cubby holes and three drawers; the desk with beautiful figured walnut fall board; the interior with double stack of drawers, vertical document drawers flank prospect door. The fall board opens to rest on pull out supports. The two over three drawers have plain swan neck pulls ( not original but hand made copies of an original 18th century pull). Bracket feet are also not original but are the appropriate design for this piece. The patina and color of this secretary is outstanding. Noteworthy that the fall board height is 30.5'', a very comfortable distance from the floor for writing.

    Refinished. Additions or alterations made to the original: The brass hardware and bracket feet are not original. Also, both top and base are 18th century but did not start out life together( this is a married piece). Wear consistent with age and use. Some staining noted in photo of the interior surface area.
