Fine English Georgian Mahogany Secretary Circa 1780-90

About the Item

An English Georgian mahogany secretary in three parts. The base opens to a hinged desk revealing a long shallow drawer above 2 short drawers on each side of the central drawer with four pigeon holes, inset tooled leather surface, paneled cabinet doors with well cast escutcheons conceal shelf storage and the secretary resting on bracket feet. The upper cabinet with glazed doors with fretwork and revealing two interior wood shelves. The crown with tiered moulding that sits atop the cabinet and is removable. Purchased from Lynda Willauer Antiques, Nantucket, Mass. Dimensions: Top - 50 3/4" L, 17 1/2" D and 51" H Base cabinet - 40 3/4" H, 23 1/2" D, 49 3/4" L Overall - 92" H Condition: Please see all detail photos. Various signs of age including with an old patch veneer repair to lower left of top and lower right of base cabinet, top drawer tight, minor stable checking (fine splits), a few spots of tan tone putty at window edges, trim loss to right side drawer. The aforementioned is for accuracy as the Secretary presents exceptionally well.
