About the Item

Very large Radar Classic modular shelving unit designed by Swiss designer Heinrich Gerhard in 1996 for Adeco, Switzerland. The offered shelving system includes: 6 pcs side panels with two profiles each 25 trays 60 cm wide 20 sliding fronts with guide rails 15 drawers 60 cm wide on shelf board 5 rollable containers 25 rear walls Measurements: W 300 cm x D 35 cm x H 240 cm For the design of the entire shelf unit Heinrich Gerhard uses anodized 1mm flat aluminium combined with several folding techniques developed for anodized flat aluminum. In our everyday we experience that folding paper or cartonage allows to create very steady and strong constructs from light material. That’s indeed what manufacturer Adeco does with the flat aluminum. Using as little as possible resources to realize a harmonious and steady structure - in an esthetic as well as in an engineering point of view. The folded profiles intersect, interlock and trays get pressed in with screws. Setting up this shelf is really a lesson in understanding how it’s thought up - one could argue it’s “more with less” in the best sense of Buckminster Fullers design ideal for modernism. The profile and the reoccurring folding angles in the single parts further create a beautiful regular pattern playing with light, casting shadows, that makes it very decorative. The shelves’ anodized surface not only gives it a certain amount of protection but also a very elegant finish on it’s surface. Best Swiss manufacturing quality and the minimal esthetic together with its monumental dimensions make this shelf a real impression and will suit very well for work as well as for private interiors. It could even be placed as a room-deviser to create separate spaces in large studio or living space The shelf is in good used condition, with partially some signs of wear and use. Some boards do show scratches, and the vertical profiles do show scratches in the areas, where the boards meet with the profiles (this almost necessarily happens when it’s set up.) Further the lowest row of the large containers does show some scratches in the front. But overall it’s in good used condition. We documented this shelf very well and can send further detailed pictures, if requested. Generally it would also be possible on request to extend this shelf unit with further parts, which of course is not included in this offer ! Please send us a message for any further questions or image requests. DEAR CUSTOMERS: Please KINDLY NOTE that packing and crating this shelf will require extra time due to the amount of parts. It may therefore not be possible within the standard time frame to prepare this item for worldwide shipments !
