About the Item
Welsh plate dresser hand-made in the United Kingdom in the late 1800s using oak. The dresser is made following the Jacobean style standards, with beautiful geometrical shapes obtained with molding on the door and drawer fronts. The front legs are also bobbin turned and connected with a square apron on three side. The sides of the dresser base feature chamfered inset panels framed by flat molding, whereas the front shows two large inset drawers decorated with geometrical molding. The top of the dresser has two shelves, the bottom one framed between two small cabinets. The top of the dresser is decorated with a scalloped frieze and ogee molding.
This is a beautiful and relatively small piece with a gorgeous patina and color. If one wants the top can be taken off and use only the base, however, the top was in such a perfect condition that we decided they needed to stay together. In a modern home this plate dresser will make a fantastic bookshelf.
