Caned Sideboard Cabinet by Paul McCobb for Directional Furniture c 1958, Signed

About the Item

This beautifully refinished cabinet with hutch was designed by Paul Mccobb for Directional Furniture and part of their 'Custom Collection' line produced in circa late 1950s and features gorgeous caned doors and brass handles. Signed with 'Directional Custom Collection' label inside one drawer. Plenty of storage space, the top hutch has two sets of doors which open up to shelves and pull-out drawers (two drawers on each side). The bottom credenza cabinet also has two sets of doors, one side with shelves and the other with three pull-out drawers, one fitted and lined for silverware. The shelf on this side has a semi-circle cutout to allow for larger items such as pots, bottles or anything that requires additional height. *Shelves are adjustable. This classic collectors piece by Directional Furniture would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Post-Modern, Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. • Important Cerused Oak Sideboard by Vladimir Kagan for Kagan-Dreyfuss, Signed
    By Vladimir Kagan, Kagan-Dreyfuss, Inc.
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
This important piece of design history was not only designed by Vladimir Kagan and handcrafted by Kagan-Dreyfuss in circa 1949 New York... this was also owned by Kagan himself and kept throughout his entire adult life (see provenance notes below). Each of the two pieces (lower credenza and upper dry bar / hutch) are signed on the back with Kagan-Dreyfuss New York stamps. The expansive size provides exceptional storage and use options. Kagan-Dreyfuss (Vladimir Kagan's partnership with Hugo Dreyfuss from circa 1950-1960) stamped pieces are amongst the most sought after by collectors and investors of art and design. Furniture with Kagan-Dreyfuss stamps are extremely hard to find and demand exceptional value, and this credenza with hutch is double stamped (one on each piece). Featuring a cerused oak exterior, with tambour doors on the lower credenza, sculpted handles (which slide to reveal a keyhole, no key is present however can be rekeyed) on the upper hutch...
