About the Item

This masterpiece boasting with history, a curated furnishing from the early 20th century acquired from an estate on the north shore of Mill Neck, Long Island New York. A traditional authentic carved wooden motifs and turned wooden spindle legs, adorned with several artistic furniture details and impeccable workmanship. The wood stain resembles a light mahogany, although it seems like a mix of woods were uses to create the elements within, solid wood, wood veneer and marquetry. Needs restoration, in good sound condition, yet needs attention in a few areas, the wood veneer is glue dried in some spots along the door frames and needs to be reglued and-or replaced. Some modifications were made in the restoration period with the prior owner in which needs completion, such as the coloring stain for some replaced moldings and spacers. It is suggested to replace the top granite if desired, as it has a previous repair of cracked split granite along the tabletop upon close inspection that was professionally repaired a long time ago, although may need to be analyzed for blending and color. There is wear to the inside solid wood where the pull out shelves meet the surround. Otherwise, the wooden carvings are meticulous, grand artwork of scrolls and bouquets, shapely fluted legs and decorated cross bar, authentic brass lion heads and florette knobs. A large grand centerpiece credenza that has a large drawer on center front face and a set of solid wood pull out drawers behind the convex doors, mitered veneers and marquetry on all sides, scalloped edges, center front emblems. Not one person will allow this piece to go unnoticed for its pronounced beauty. Needs professional restoration, easy minimal work, although must be obtained by a true enthusiast or serious woodworker and dedicated refinisher. Fully functional as is.
