A French Art Deco Sideboard with 5 Drawers
About the Item
This exquisite French Art Deco sideboard, dating to the 1930s, is a superb example of early 20th-century decorative arts. The straight-grained and highly striated macassar veneer runs horizontally across the doors, accentuating the length and sleekness of the piece. Embedded chrome ribs add metallic sparkle and reference machine-age styling motifs typically found on the automobiles and trains of the era. This is the hallmark of the later Deco period known as "Moderne". The finish is silky smooth and polished to a high gloss to better show off the exotic wood grain. Behind the broad doors lie generous storage compartments, each bisected with a shelf and beautifully finished inside and ready for dining essentials, collectibles, or even media equipment. In the center are 5 stacked drawers with vertically running veneer. The top is bi-level and can be fitted with a glass (or stone) for added durability if the piece is to be used as a bar. However, it is used - as a buffet in a dining room, a console in an entryway, or a stylish bar or media cabinet, this Art Deco sideboard brings sophistication and flair.
