About the Item
Oak sideboard with carved inlays, Italian craftsmanship from the 1940s, designed by Pier Luigi Colli.
This piece has a fantastic character, which our restorers brought back to light by completely sanding off the old varnish.
The old, yellowed lacquer was sanded off over three days, photos of the original condition are attached.
The natural surface of this new semi-gloss varnish reflects the object and has a wonderfully dry and soft feel.
This artfully designed piece on tall legs impresses with its formal sophistication and details.
The drawers and the freely flanking and ribbed columns are decorated with forest figures such as deer, hares, and birds, exuding a dynamic tranquility.
The side doors have jagged outer edges that again connect with the wavy brass handles, drawer knobs and foot cuffs.
The manufacturer Fratelli Marelli, Cantu demonstrates a honest craftsmanship that can only be executed by experienced cabinetmakers whose expertise has been passed down through generations.
In this designer piece, the construction is a solid reference, a necessary cultural marker in a historical period marked by great uncertainty but also unshakable confidence in the future.
The Colli family, based in Turin since the mid-19th century and active in the furniture industry, shaped the tastes of a curious urban elite, always attentive to new trends and international fashions.
Paris was the training ground for the heir to this long family tradition. A great admirer of applied arts, he attended the 1925 Universal Exhibition and was impressed by the beauty of Lalique glass, for which he became the official importer for Italy.
PierLuigi Colli, who shared his name with the brand's founder, revitalized the company in the mid-20th century through significant collaborations with a group of Milanese architects, including Gio Ponti and Carlo Mollino. His style was appreciated for its eclecticism in forms and materials, which reflected his unique and compelling personality.

French Midcentury Bronze Naturalistic Designed Mirror for Lanvin Paris, 1970s
Located in Salzburg, AT
A French midcentury bronze mirror with naturalistic decoration. A poetic looking mirror with branches and leaves entwining around the frame.
Playful and unevenly distributed bronze elements.
Even the suspension (18 x 5cm) resembles an element from nature, a branch that quite randomly and casually on the upper frame
laid down.
The branches and leaves are engraved and textured the surface is colored from light to dark green with lacquer paint, giving the elements depth and naturalness.
A mirror like a poem, even the back is included in the Enwturf.
Painted on the back and signed by hand Ly De Rohanchault for LANVIN (the fashion label in Paris).
So obviously a mirror made for a store interior or showroom for LANVIN.
Lanvin or the Jeanne Lanvin S.A. is a French fashion company founded in Paris in 1889 by fashion designer Jeanne Lanvin. It is the oldest French couture fashion house to exist continuously and to this day.[1] In 2019, Lanvin celebrated its 130th anniversary.
Under the Lanvin brand, high-priced prêt-à-porter fashion, accessories and perfume, each for men and women,
as well as children's wear, are sold through its own network of boutiques and upscale retailers worldwide.
Between 1909 and 1993, Lanvin also produced haute couture fashion for women...
