About the Item

Oak sideboard with carved inlays, Italian craftsmanship from the 1940s, designed by Pier Luigi Colli. This piece has a fantastic character, which our restorers brought back to light by completely sanding off the old varnish. The old, yellowed lacquer was sanded off over three days, photos of the original condition are attached. The natural surface of this new semi-gloss varnish reflects the object and has a wonderfully dry and soft feel. This artfully designed piece on tall legs impresses with its formal sophistication and details. The drawers and the freely flanking and ribbed columns are decorated with forest figures such as deer, hares, and birds, exuding a dynamic tranquility. The side doors have jagged outer edges that again connect with the wavy brass handles, drawer knobs and foot cuffs. The manufacturer Fratelli Marelli, Cantu demonstrates a honest craftsmanship that can only be executed by experienced cabinetmakers whose expertise has been passed down through generations. In this designer piece, the construction is a solid reference, a necessary cultural marker in a historical period marked by great uncertainty but also unshakable confidence in the future. The Colli family, based in Turin since the mid-19th century and active in the furniture industry, shaped the tastes of a curious urban elite, always attentive to new trends and international fashions. Paris was the training ground for the heir to this long family tradition. A great admirer of applied arts, he attended the 1925 Universal Exhibition and was impressed by the beauty of Lalique glass, for which he became the official importer for Italy. PierLuigi Colli, who shared his name with the brand's founder, revitalized the company in the mid-20th century through significant collaborations with a group of Milanese architects, including Gio Ponti and Carlo Mollino. His style was appreciated for its eclecticism in forms and materials, which reflected his unique and compelling personality. Feedback geben

French Cubistic Art Déco Cupboard Oak Cérusé, Amber Colored Mirror Glass, 1940s Extraordinary, cubistic shaped French Art Déco cabinet in solid chene ceruse with six different sujets in amber mirror glass door panels. Very deep engraving of the glass panels executed in a high-level individual workmanship. Size of one glass panel: 34 cm x 26 cm + wooden frame 2 cm The 2 doors are set as if in a frame, the body stands on a pedestal. Therefore, the object appears light-footed despite the solid construction. The front side of the strong wooden feet is decorated by ropes. The surface was waxed again and has a pleasant soft touch. The color of the object corresponds to a natural sand tone and combines perfectly with the amber mirror glass. The large brass key...
