About the Item

With a fine shellac polish finish. The wood a nice warm cognac color and presents very well . In sturdy condition ,slight wear and some darkening to the richly carved paw feet (fully intact). Some old filled age cracks (note filled crack on one leg in photos, first and last) .Nicks ,dings , chips primarily on legs or feet . Repair to one foot ( as seen in photos ).All from typical wear and use. Removable backsplash . Sturdy .. Label underneath with cabinet maker name and location (Stonegate, York). William IV marked the end of the Georgian / Regency period. The period incorporating Regency motifs paw feet , pronounced carving but in an often robust manner . Strong presence , dark woods , shellac finishes were typical of the era . William IV is often seen as the end of the Regency period and the gateway to an abrupt change to a rococo revival .
