Mahogany Chippendale Sideboard, circa 1920

About the Item

This magnificent mahogany sideboard features a drop-center with a drawer over bowed and fluted center doors flanked by side doors with carved pendant shells amid descending scrolled vines. The side doors have drawers above them, and the doors open to reveal single shelves. A beautifully carved backboard showcases dainty flowers amid scrolled acanthus leaves. The center apron compliments the backboard with additional scrolled acanthus leaves. Constructed of a mahogany exterior with a rich reddish hue and an oak interior and back, the sideboard is raised on eight cabriole legs with fanned acanthus leaves at the knees. The legs terminate in classic ball and claw feet. An optional piece of glass to protect the top of the drop-center accompanies the piece.
