About the Item

This credenza, designed by Carlo Hauner for Forma Móveis e Objetos de Arte, represents a remarkable piece of Brazilian mid-century modern furniture. Crafted primarily from rich, solid Nogueira wood and complemented by beautifully preserved Nogueira veneer, it elegantly showcases the period’s distinct craftsmanship and natural aesthetics. Dating precisely from the transition period of 1952/53, the sideboard bears dual labels from Forma and Móveis Artesanal, underscoring its historical significance and authenticity. The credenza's foundation features a uniquely sculpted base resembling a butterfly or "bandeira," referencing the iconic motifs found in the celebrated work of Brazilian painter Alfredo Volpi. The original brass door knobs, shaped distinctively in an "L," remain intact, enhancing the piece’s authenticity and character. The veneer, original to the piece, is in exceptional condition. Definitive proof of authenticity adds to its historical significance and enhances its collectible and investment value.
