19th Century English George III Mahogany & Brass Gallery Hunt/Sideboard
England, Circa 1820
A exquisite 19th Century English George III Mahogany & Brass Gallery Hunt/Sideboard, a testament to restrained elegance and impeccable craftsmanship from circa 1820. This quietly stunning antique piece features a well-figured mahogany case without inlay, accentuated by a cast brass three-column gallery, a uncommon feature of the George III era.
The demilune top, standing at 37 inches high, is adorned with a rear brass gallery at 48 inches, spanning 70 inches in width and 20 inches in depth. Architecturally designed, the unique case includes distinctive elements: the far left and right door cabinets measuring 17 inches high by 12 inches wide, boasting uncommon push latches. Flanking these cabinets are doors with interior triangular three-tiered cutlery drawers with brass pulls.
At the center lies an upper long drawer measuring 35 inches wide by 8 inches high, while the focal point is a 32-inch wide by 8-inch drop-down door, perfect for Hunt Board purposes (accommodating guns and/or butler's trays within a generous 30-inch wide by 8-inch interior space) This is a 'true' hunt board sideboard...
