The condition remains relatively good and clearly it has been well loved throughout its life.
Tea was a precious commodity throughout the 18th and 19th centuries and the purpose of a tea caddy was not just to preserve the and extend the life of the precious tea leaves, but also to enable the owner to lock away those aforementioned valuable tea leaves, keeping them safe from the house staffs potential wandering hands.

Globe
by
Nath. Hill,
1754.
The celestial globe is depicted on the inside of the box.
On the terrestrial globe much of central and southern Africa is empty. North America bears only the name of some British colonies. It shows California as a peninsula and the northwest coast of America as "unknown parts" (Alaska is not described and is only partially delineated; it would become part of the United States in 1867). The route of Admiral Anson is traced (1740) and the trade winds are indicated by arrows. Australia, still named New Holland (the new name would be introduced in 1829), is part of the west coast. (See Van der Krogt, P., Old Globes in the Netherlands, Utrecht 1984, p. 146 and Van der Krogt, P. - Dekker, E., Globes from the Western World, London 1993, p. 115.)
Nathaniel Hill (London, news from 1746 to 1768) had impeccable professional credentials: he had done his apprenticeship with Richard Cushee, who at the time was carrying out surveying work for John Senex's Surrey map...

Georgian 18th Century Mahogany Kneehole Desk
Located in Bedfordshire, GB
A superb quality and extremely attractive 18th century, Chippendale period, georgian mahogany kneehole desk, having well figured rectangular top over slide, central cupboard and arrangement of drawers, retaining original rococo brass handles, raised on original shaped bracket feet.
Generally, kneehole deeks are regarded as a smaller, more compact version of the more typically found pedestal desk, with some form of an arrangement of drawers around a central set recessed cupboard being the form which one can expect to come across. There are of course various different designs to be found along the same theme, but as a general rule that is the form you will usually find in a georgian kneehole desk...

George III 'Rustic' Giltwood Wall Brackets, circa 1800
Located in Kinderhook, NY
A spectacular and exceptionally rare pair of English, possibly Irish, George III circa 1800 wall brackets or shelves in 'Rustic' style, the cusped shaped tops in original 'red ochre' paint with period brass hanging tabs, the tapering 'bodies' composed of fully gilded twigs and rootwood in original finish.
Provenance: The collection of Sir John Boorman at The Glebe, Annamoe, County Wicklow, Ireland.
The 'Rustic' style in design emerged in Great Britain from the 'Picturesque' movement within Romanticism of the 18th century as a quiet rebellion against the formality of Baroque and Neoclassical architectural styles and was largely ephemeral due to it's inherently specific application; that it being intended for the 'cottage orné', follies, and grottos of the landed gentry. Frances Collard states "Rustic furniture, particularly that made of untrimmed branches and roots, appeared in the designs of Thomas Chippendale and Thomas Johnson and were featured in an anonymous work published by Josiah Taylor's 'Architectural Library, "Ideas for Rustic Furniture", from 1790-5". The Duke of Buccleuch...
