Mid-Century Modern Lacquered Goatskin and Brass Bar by Aldo Tura

About the Item

This beautiful and dramatic bar was realized by the esteemed midcentury designer Aldo Tura, in Italy, circa 1970. Nautically inspired, the piece offers a frame consisting of two angular side supports resembling stylized lobster claws that support three goatskin wrapped trays with glass centres. The top two trays feature brass handles suggesting stylized scallop shells. The piece sits on brass wheels modeled after the steering wheel of a sailboat. The hourglass shaped handle is affixed by two rivets that reiterate the form of the wheels in miniature. Additionally, there is an angled rectangular piece support in the back with three circular cut-outs, perfect for storing bottles. With its whimsically refined form and clean lines, this piece embodies the qualities for which Tura (and first rate Mid Century Italian design, in general) are renowned. Excellent vintage condition. Italy, circa 1970. Dimensions: 26” W X 25.5” D X 29.25” H.
