19th C. Joseph E. Zwiener Kingwood, Satine and Bois de Bout Marquetry Tea Table

A FRENCH ORMOLU-MOUNTED KINGWOOD, SATINE AND BOIS DE BOUT MARQUETRY TEA-TABLE BY JOSEPH-EMMANUEL ZWIENER (GERMAN-FRENCH, 1848-1925), PARIS, LAST QUARTER 19TH CENTURY. UNDERSIDE OF LOWER TRAY STAMPED E. Zwiener. Inlaid with loose floral sprays, the circular upper tier with wavy frieze and resting on four winged caryatid supports, the lower tier with a pair of foliate and cherub-mask handles, on tapering legs mounted with shell and foliate clasps and joined by a wavy 'X'-shaped stretcher with rosebud finial, on scrolled feet, the reverse of the mounts variously stamped ZN The Custom protective glass top on the the top tier has a few scratches, but helped keep the top in great shape. 38.5 in. (97.5 cm.) high, 32 in. (81.3 cm.) diameter. Property from the Estate of Robert and Nancy Kertscher Same table sold at Christies in 2012 for over USD $52,000
