19th century Edwards and Roberts birds eye maple card table

About the Item

19th century Edwards and Roberts birds eye maple card table circa 1890. Stunning quality card/game's table by edwards and roberts, with makers plaque on the underside. Unusually for edwards and roberts this is made in birds eye maple, so can only presume that it may have been a special commission. Shaped top surface, which shows the beautiful grain to full effect, cross banded twice in walnut to echo the shape.  Top rotates and flips open to reveal the original green baize playing surface, decorated with a further inlaid border.  Below the top is a shaped apron with further inlay which is applied to all sides and running down the cabriole legs.  Fine quality cast mounts which run from just below the top surface all the way to the toe. Minor restorations to woodwork to top surface.  1 small piece of metalwork missing to 1 leg, which is photographed.  Recently re-finished in our workshop and ready for the home. Open width: 44"
