Edwardian Satinwood Hand-Painted Metamorphic Game Table
Located in Chicago, IL
This magnificent Circa 1910 Edwardian Satinwood hand-painted game table displays signs of fine craftsmanship and ingenuity. From the 17th to the 19th Century, card and board games were means to socialize and gamble large sums of money among the wealthy. Game tables are an example of specialized furniture beautifully crafted by a skilled cabinetmaker for such clients. When not in use, the envelope top has such an elegant hand-painted floral design and fine maple inlay that makes it too lovely to conceal by placing anything on top. Closed, it can decorate any hallway or entryway. On casters, the table can be easily moved from room to room, which makes it very versatile. The maple inlay detail continues the sides and drawers, showing no detail of elegance was spared. Once you swivel the top, it opens to a flat green felt surface for playing cards. It has a rosewood and satinwood parquetry chessboard and cribbage board that pulls out in the front with brass knobs. The interior is a mahogany drawer with compartments for the storage of play pieces. The chess pieces are ivory. The right side opens to a hidden compartment with a built-in tantalus accompanied by three fine crystal decanters, perfect for pouring a drink before a game. The left side is a dummy drawer to symmetrically continue the aesthetics of the design to its entirety. As a commissioned piece of work, this museum-quality piece is perfect for any collector or connoisseur of rare, one-of-a-kind antiques.
Comes with three crystal decanters and game pieces shown are included: a complete ivory chess set...

Louise Card Table Metal Clad Over Teakwood Handcrafted in India by Paul Mathieu
Located in New York, NY
The renowned designer Paul Mathieu chose the name “Louise” when he created his more feminine version of Louis XV (1730-1760) furniture. The characteristic cabriole leg, curving outward at the knee and inward towards the foot in an "S" shape was born during this period. It is during the same era that English furniture makers produced the Queen Anne and Chippendale style.
The curved legs and side rails of this exceptionally elegant table are hand carved from solid pieces of teak. Pattern-makers trace and cut complex forms that will cover the table from thick sheets of copper or silver. Once the table is joined together, it is meticulously encased in a tight-fitting skin of copper or purest silver. The silver used was assayed at 96% purity, which exceeds the minimum standard for sterling of 92.5%. White Bronze, Antiqued Bronze, Brass, Silver and Copper available options of th metal skin. Both silver and copper will tarnish over time. Regular non-abrasive household metal polishes can be used to restore the original finish.

Jahangir Side Table in Black Marble by Paul Mathieu for Stephanie Odegard

Inspired by the elegant architectural element, namely the mehrabs, he saw in the palaces of Mughal India, the renowned designer Paul Mathieu has created this unique hand-carved side table. Solid blocks of marble are hand-carved into low elegant tables before they are polished by hand. The contrast between the elegant inline of the mehrab with the clean and solid outline is the most striking feature of this design.
Available in various other stones like Agra White Marble, Jaisalmer Stone, Rainbow Teak-wood Stone, Katni Stone, Black Beslana, Agra Grey Stone and Agra Red Stone.
