19th Century American Victorian Marble Top Parlor Table
About the Item
A superb example of Victorian splendor and its attributes, elegant, sophisticated, refined American high style, this richly decorated parlor (center) table features the original substantial rouge marble stone slab top with molded edge, over a solid wooden frame with a scalloped shaped apron embellished with rich burled walnut band inlays, incised detailing throughout, central turned baluster-form standard surrounded by four squared bobbin turned columns, joined by ornate carved and partial gilded openwork decoration, classical vase with floral foliate motif, elegantly rising on four downswept supports, terminating on the original porcelain and brass castors.
The frame is signed "J.W. Haning 58 San Antonio Texas"
