This collectible design triangular desk or center piece table, made of luxurious black marble with modern waste materials, is designed by female artist / designer Roos Schneijderberg. This exceptional, brutalist, almost 'primitive and savage' piece is called: You Can Call Me B.C. - As Black Creation Before Christ. The conceptual table emits a fierce energy, that miraculously cuts primitively-sophisticated through its surrounding space, like an appealing, yet repelling knife. Harmless, but with a perceptible menacing presence. The triangular marble tabletop, the mirror shards in the table base, and the pointy drips of the melted recycled plastic, intentionally raise associations of a threatening sharpness. And brutal primitive burned wood, or solidified lava. It makes this unique designed table almost uncivilised. But, besides sharpness and primitiveness, there is also the association of luxury and sophistication through the marble. Perfection and solidness, is mixed with ugliness, sloppiness, worthlessness, and rawness. Thousands-year-old-Before-Christ-stone is combined with modern waste, namely melted recycled plastic, and pieces of broken mirrors. All these contrasts are holistically united into one balanced, powerful piece. Notice that the three mirror shards incorporated in the table base, are creating optical-illuminating crevices in the black melted plastic, as openings to transformation. This conceptual table expresses the un-illuminated source of all being, including the necessity of unrefined primitive darkness, destruction, and chaos, to come to creation, transformation, and beauty. As burned soil manured will be the most fertile. The table affirms the philosophical saying: ‘There is no beautiful surface without a terrible depth'. So, besides brutal and bold, it is also a refined and profound art piece, about the genesis of creation. The collectible design table is hand-crafted and one of a kind. Roos Schneijderberg is a Dutch multidisciplinary creative. Her work includes conceptual furniture, sculptures, mixed media objects, video installations, paintings, and scenery creations. Her style is sophisticated yet bold presented with some serious lightness. Introspection, femininity, and a refined abrasive interaction between imperfection and aestheticism are recurring themes in her oeuvre.
