About the Item

This extraordinary coffee table originally comes from rural Spain and was crafted around 1720. What makes this table truly unique is that its top is made from a single piece of chestnut wood. With a width of 23.8 inches, the tabletop comes from a majestic tree. The top is 1 inch thick and features a beautiful grain pattern. Below the surface are three drawers, each with a profiled edge on the front. The drawers are equipped with finely hand-forged, authentic drawer pulls, each adorned with a centrally placed stylized leaf design. The table stands on slightly angled straight legs, connected at the base by a profiled stretcher. The somewhat primitive design is typical of early antique coffee tables, where the joinery is always visible. In this case, the top is attached to the base using dovetail joints, while the stretchers are connected by traditional mortise and tenon joints. The table has a warm, deep, dark brown color with a rich, glossy finish. Over the years, the table has been extensively used, which has left it with a variety of small marks and a beautifully developed patina. In our workshop, the piece was gently cleaned and given a protective layer of wax. This very special coffee table is now clean, sturdy, and ready for use.
