A Paramount Wood Co Original Design.
"Ok, so here’s the short story: I’m a Wood Artisan and founder of Paramount Wood C.o out of New Hope, PA, and while in Atlanta Georgia, I came across this old heavy piece of wood in an abandoned barn that someone was clearly using as a workbench. Absolutely CAKED with paint, oil, glue, grease, etc etc. It was impossible to tell exactly what it was and for sure no way to know what species it was. I took a chance on it and hauled it back to PA. I spent weeks resurfacing both sides and bringing what turned out to be an absolutely STUNNING Double-Burl Elm slab back to life.
The top surface was sanded to 400 grit (feels like glass), installed two butterflies to keep a crack together, hand forged, bent iron over each edge, and ran carriage bolts through to bring the ends some character. From there, we had some stunning rustic legs made and custom-painted to match the iron ends and recessed into the underside for additional strength. Finally, the table was finished with 4 coats of deep penetrating food-safe Walrus Oil and wax. I purposely left the edges of the slab exactly how they were when I found it so the story is never lost! This is a piece that I’m particularly proud of and I hope it finds its way into someone’s home and becomes the centerpiece of their living room! "
