Afra Bianchin Scarpa (b. 1937-2011) and Tobia Scarpa (b. 1935) worked together as a couple in both life and profession, forming one of the most prolific and influential duos in 20th-century Italian design. Afra and Tobia Scarpa both graduated in architecture from the Iuav University of Venice, where they studied with prominent architects such as Carlo Scarpa (Tobia's brother) and Giuseppe Samonà. After their studies, they began working together at the studio of Italian architect and designer Carlo Scarpa, where they had the opportunity to develop their unique and sophisticated style. Their collaboration has led to the creation of numerous iconic projects in furniture and interior design, often characterized by timeless elegance and meticulous attention to detail. Their work has been produced by world-renowned brands such as B&B Italia, Cassina and Flos. Afra and Tobia Scarpa have received numerous awards and accolades throughout their careers, further solidifying their status as pioneers in the field of contemporary design. Their legacy continues to influence generations of designers and design enthusiasts around the world. Stildomus was an Italian furniture company that played a significant role in the design scene of the 1960s and 1970s. Founded by Ettore and Norberto Pellagatta, Stildomus has distinguished itself by combining traditional craftsmanship with innovative design, creating pieces that have become iconic in the modern design world. The company collaborated with some of the most influential designers of the time, including Afra and Tobia Scarpa. The Scarpa brothers created a series of furniture for Stildomus that combined elegance and functionality, using high-quality materials such as solid wood and aluminum, and introducing distinctive design elements that are still highly sought after today. Stildomus has focused primarily on home furniture, such as tables, chairs, and bar furniture, characterized by an understated but refined aesthetic, and great attention to detail and quality of materials. The pieces produced by the company have become symbols of 1970s Italian design, and are highly prized by vintage furniture collectors. Despite the company's closure, Stildomus products continue to be in high demand in the antique and vintage design market due to their build quality and historical value. The legacy of Stildomus lives on through these pieces, which bear witness to a golden age of Italian design.

By Afra & Tobia Scarpa, Stildomus
Located in Conversano, IT
Stunning bar cabinet from the Torcello series, designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Stildomus in the 1960s - a perfect example of rational and sophisticated Italian design. This collection is known for its masterful use of solid wood, combined with a robust yet refined construction, true to the Scarpas' design philosophy. In this case, the wood is solid rosewood, finely crafted to highlight its natural grain and structural strength. One of the most iconic elements of the Torcello series is the use of exposed aluminum joinery, visible at key junctions between panels. This feature celebrates the precise and refined craftsmanship that defined the work of the Scarpa duo. The clean, geometric lines of this piece allow it to integrate beautifully into elegant, high-end interiors without overwhelming the space. This beautiful bar cabinet features two front doors that open to reveal two sliding compartments with several internal sections, ideal for storing glassware and bottles.
