About the Item

"Ci" is a coffee table, designed by Naoto Fukasawa and manufactured by Driade, featuring a rounded Carrara marble top and an ebonized European ash or natural mahogany frame. Indoor use only. DIMENSIONS: D. 43.3", W. 43.3", H. 13.7" "Ci" table matches "Ten" armchair, which is embracing and comfortable, creating a lounge area that harmoniously blends into all interiors, from classical to metropolitan. Naoto Fukasawa said about "Ci" table: “After calling the small armchair Ten (Sky in Japanese), I thought it might be natural to name the small table Ci, which designates the surface of the Earth. The bond between Ten and Ci, Sky and Earth, was instinctive”. NAOTO FUKASAWA, industrial designer, design educator and author, believes that design should be intuitive and seamlessly engaging to those who experience it. One of Japan's most influential contemporary designers, he is noted for creating designs that are both functionally and conceptually sound.Fukasawa's innovative designs of familiar objects are based on his close observations of how we use things in our everday lives. Rather than focusing on objects in isolation, he considers how they relate to their surroundings. Born in 1956 in Yamanashi prefecture, Japan, Fukasawa graduated from Tama Art University in 1980. He designs objects that are, as he describes, "close to the body". He thinks that design should be a part of the human experience, and the story of how an object comes to be is as important as the final design. After spending eight years as the head of the American design firm IDEO's Tokyo office, he established Naoto Fukasawa Design in 2003. That same year, he helped start the Plus Minus Zero brand of household and electronics products. Fukasawa has received more than 40 international awards, and his work is included in the permanent collections of museums throughout the world. He is currently a professor at Musashino Art University and a visiting lecturer at Tama Art University.

Acerbis Large Moodboard Coffee Table in White Marble & Dark Stained Walnut Top
By Acerbis, Massimo Mariani
Located in Brooklyn, NY
A system of small tables with a top made by freely combining different contrasting materials: wood, marble, shiny metals, giving life to a mosaic of materials differing by type, color nuances, texture and thickness. Rectangular or square, the tables can also be freely combined with each other to form large coffee tables with an ever-changing material and graphic effect. A polished metal tray, the thickness of which is designed to match perfectly with the different thicknesses of the table tops, can be added as a valet or utility tray. Dark matte grey painted support structure and feet. Table shipped disassembled. Finishes: - Wood tops, thickness 30 mm, Swamp Oak or Swamp Ash - Marble tops, thickness 15 mm, white arabesque or grey graphite, matte finish - Tray, thickness 15 mm, in polished steel or brass (*) Swamp oak and Swamp ash Special veneer identified as a ''fossil'' since obtained from trunks found below ground, where they have been preserved under layers of clay for hundreds of years. The anaerobic environment inhibited the growth of microorganisms preventing the inexorable process of slow decay. On the contrary, over time the internal elements are transformed and others have been added: the mineral salts are combined with those present in the wood matrix, slowly transforming the organic state. This long natural process, which cannot be replicated, gives the wood a unique, precious appearance, with surprising colors and textures. The aging of the wood can also cause the formation of cracks and splits which are puttied and repaired but not eliminated during processing, because they are the signs of time that provide evidence of the great age and uniqueess of the material. Born in Florence, Massimo Mariani lives and works in London. He studied architecture with Giancarlo De Carlo at the University of Genoa. After graduation he joined Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Genoa and later Herman Hertzberger...
