About the Item
Loops of oxidized steel frame a free floating pair of bookmatched hackberry slabs that have been charred and wire brushed, similar to the Japanese finishing method of shou sugi ban. Finished in a hand rubbed and waxed lacquer. Tactility to the max. Custom sizes, wood species, and finishes (burnt or otherwise) are available.

Founded in 2010, Modern Industry is a modern furniture design and fabrication studio located on Chicago's West side. Devoted to the elegant marriage of hand craftsmanship with technological innovation, we create luxury contemporary furnishings made to be passed down for generations- the antique furniture of the future.
Customers can choose from a variety of domestic hardwoods, including Walnut, Oak, Elm and Maple, finished in a selection of standard finishes, or custom finish matching for an additional fee.
Steel can be finished in a variety of standard patinas, powder coated to any RAL color, or paint matched to any shade for an additional fee.
