About the Item

In mid‑century formality with modern flair, this Drexel Eastrend occasional table unfolds as a luxurious fusion of Art Deco grandeur, the restrained elegance of Biedermeier, and the subtle refinement of Mid‑Century Modern. Crafted in the United States during the 1970s, it channels an aesthetic that is both timeless and intriguingly elusive. A sculptural column of burl‑accented veneer supports the table’s gracefully rounded square top, which is clad in warm pecan and walnut. The perimeter features a meticulously sculpted edge band, while the surface is ornamented with a diamond parquet inlay. These design flourishes give it the aura of fine marquetry, seaming craftsmanship with visual poetry. At approximately 25.75 inches square and standing 21.75 inches tall, the table is both compact and commanding—ideal as a singular statement in a lounge area, perched beside a sculptural armchair, or grouped to punctuate a conversation set. Quality restoration has preserved its natural richness, with the top expertly refinished to retain its depth and glow, and only the softest wear remaining to attest to its careful heritage. Remarkably, Eastrend furniture remains rare even among Drexel’s celebrated mid‑century collections, making this piece highly collectible. Comparable mid-century Drexel side tables, including those by notable designers like John Van Koert, regularly command upwards of $1,500, with rarer or intricately inlaid examples fetching between $2,000 and $3,500. But what sets this table apart is its hybrid elegance—its symmetry of sculptural form, refined veneer palette, and artisanal detail. It carries the understated refinement of European tradition, refracted through an American lens of innovation and restraint. This is more than furniture—it is an enduring vignette of design history, ready to ground a room with elegance and elevate it with artistry. The possibilities are endless for this American made Drexel Eastrend occasional table. This is the first piece we've ever seen from the line and struggled to find any information about it's designers. Similar to the works of John Van Koert, the overall look is difficult to categorize. A mix of Art Deco, MCM and Biedermeier influences. Supported by a column accented by burl, the overall look has synergy of subtle style combinations that work perfectly to keep this table timeless. The honey colored walnut / pecan top has a lot of intention and design elements when you look close. The sculpted edge band wraps the rounded square top with added character, only outdone by the diamond parquet inlay marquetry.

Vintage Heywood Wakefield Wheat Finish X Base Square Coffee Table
By Heywood-Wakefield Co.
Located in Chattanooga, TN
There's a rich, deep, aged honey patina on this wheat finish birch / maple. We achieved a a near perfect muted grain and color match to the top surface that we delicately restored. This sleek, study, understated and classic modern coffee table embraces mid-century minimalism design. The "X" base with intersecting spanners adds an appealing architectural elegance that remains timeless to this day. Sculpted, and assembled with no visible hardware. This restored Heywood-Wakefield 392-G square coffee table is an elegant expression of mid-century minimalism, crafted in the signature wheat-maple finish that has made the brand so revered. It measures approximately 36 inches by 36 inches (91 × 91 cm) across the top, and stands about 15.75 inches (40 cm) high — a scale that delivers both generous surface area and low, relaxed visual impact. The design is beautifully composed: a square tabletop with softened edges floats above an intersecting “X”-base, with crossed stretchers that add structural elegance and visual interest without heaviness. The wheat finish has a muted grain: blond tones, subtle warmth, and a light yet rich surface that reflects light softly while grounding surrounding furnishings. The craftsmanship is clean: wood joints are refined, hardware is concealed, allowing the form and wood grain to speak. Restoration has been carried out with great attention to authenticity. The tabletop has been professionally refinished to match original specifications: color, finish sheen, and grain pattern restored. Minor imperfections remain — tiny surface marks and perhaps slight variances on the X-base spanners — but these serve as testament to its vintage provenance rather than detractions. The legs and base are solid and stable; the table presents as both handsome and durable. Because of its proportions and design, this piece works beautifully in a range of interiors. It can anchor a sprawling seating area in a living room, serve as the central gathering point in a lounge, or provide surface and sculptural presence in modern or Scandinavian-light-wood interiors. Its square silhouette allows symmetry in layout; its wheat finish harmonizes with wood tones, brass or matte metal accents, soft upholstery, and even minimalist or muted color palettes. We're certain you won't find a more sublime vintage rendition of this coffee table anywhere. Stamped by the maker with illegible date. Excellent restored vintage condition. Top has been professionally refinished by our in-house cabinet shop.Only very minor age appropriate imperfections remain on the legs and spanners. Heywood Wakefield Coffee Table...

Maitland-Smith Style Brass and Glass Travertine Stone Pedestal Cocktail Table
By Maitland Smith
Located in Chattanooga, TN
This architectural side table marries sculptural minimalism with luxurious materiality. It features a smooth, square travertine pedestal base whose warm, subtly veined surface grounds the design with natural gravitas. A beveled square glass top appears to hover above, subtly supported by a centered gold-finished cross-bar that spans gracefully across the stone, bringing an elevated shine and visual tension to the composition. The cross-bar nestles into precise grooves carved into the travertine—an elegant detail that ensures both structural integrity and aesthetic refinement. The beveled edge of the glass enhances the interplay of weight and transparency, accentuating the stone’s solid presence while inviting a sense of lightness. Measuring approximately 27.75 inches square for the glass surface, with a base of 23.5 inches square, and standing around 22.25 inches in height, the table offers a commanding yet thoughtful footprint. Its proportions are ideally suited for both statement placement and purposeful function in luxe interiors. The stone remains unblemished, with the travertine maintaining full polish and clarity. The glass shows a minor repaired chip at one corner, and the gold bars have gently aged, offering patina that enhances rather than detracts—adding an authentic collector’s narrative. Stunning travertine stone square pedestal cocktail table in the style of Maitland-Smith. Super-sleek, elegant and Classic modern style. The stone has exotically marbled earth tone veins. The Minimalist design is perfectly complimented and contrasted by the flat bar brass...
