A stunning and exceptionally rare mid-century French Modern sculptural greyhound head two-tier table attributed to luxury Parisian design house Maison Jansen (Paris, France; 1880-1989) Dating to the mid-20th century, this scarce, quite likely one-off example is sure to bring a touch of refined elegance and sophistication to any space. Executed in timeless Italian Neo-classical taste (Directoire - Regency), inspired by the classic ancient Roman and Greek models, realized in bold and luxurious Modernist mixed metal materials, possible custom collaboration with Alain Delong or Guy Lefevre, having a square gilt metal accented silver-tone brushed steel frame with inset colorless glass panels, mounted with unusual distinctive finely detailed figural greyhound whippet dog head sculptures, raised on squared and tubular legs, terminating in sculpted paw feet. circa 1960 Combining inventiveness and elegance with strong modernist influence and metalwork, reminiscent of icons Willy Rizzo, Romeo Rega, Renato Zevi, Giovanni Banci, Meret Oppenheim, the artisan seamlessly blending clean lines, simple geometric shape, symmetry, with organic forms, and luxurious materials, we feel this table goes beyond the classification of a simple vintage table, becoming a sculptural element, a work of art that exudes sophistication, refinement, and subtle glamour.
