French Modernist Wrought-Iron & Glass Cocktail Side Coffee Table ca. 1950s
Located in Shippensburg, PA
MODERNIST PATINATED WROUGHT-IRON AND GLASS COFFEE TABLE French, circa 1950s unmarked Item # 401RGG02P-2 A captivating modernist table from the 1950s, this piece is versatile, ideal as either a side table next to a low sofa or chair, or as a coffee or cocktail table. Its small size ensures it complements a room without overwhelming it, offering texture and visual appeal through its intricately textured blackened patina. The design, with ample negative space, gives the table a light, airy, and casual feel. The 3/8" thick, newly added glass top fits neatly into small grooves in the legs. Each leg features a single gilded twisted iron ring suspended from the top, with a gently curved profile ending in a stubbed foot. The table is ready for immediate placement. We may still have a pair to this table available - contact us if you would like information about the second table. Measurements: 19 1/2" H x 30" diameter Condition Report: Glass is brand new 3/8" thick tempered clear glass; table in very good condition, light wear to gilding and overall patina in a few spots, incredibly sturdy and solid. French Modernist Gilded Wrought-Iron & Glass Coffee Accent Table ca. 1950s
Located in Shippensburg, PA
MODERNIST GILDED WROUGHT-IRON AND GLASS COFFEE TABLE French, circa 1950s unmarked Item # 401RGG02P-1 An endlessly interesting modernist accent table from the 1950s, it works perfectly both as a side table beside a low sofa or chair or as a coffee or cocktail table. The diminutive stature of the table allows it to be a part of the room without dominating at all, adding texture and visual interest with the brilliantly textured gilt patina while having a great deal of negative space that makes the table feel light, airy and relaxed. The 3/8" thick (and brand new) glass top is set into tiny grooves in the legs, each with a single twisted iron ring hanging from the top with a gentle curved profile that terminates in a stubbed sabot. Ready to place. We acquired this together with a matched pair to this that is almost identical in size but is a simple black patination instead of having the gilt surface on the wrought iron; contact us if you would like to know about the other table. Measurements: 19 1/8" H x 29 5/8" diameter Condition Report: Glass is brand new 3/8" thick tempered clear glass; table in very good condition, light wear to gilding and overall patina in a few spots, incredibly sturdy and solid. A fine ready-to-place presentation. About silla antiques...

Paul Vera, Art Deco Table in Iron and Tile, France, 1946
By Paul Vera
Located in New York, NY
This long side table has a ceramic top assembled from tiles created by the master ceramist Paul Vera, each depicting a fanciful vignette or design and glazed in black and white. The base, in wrought iron, is assembled of long thin legs, and possesses a shelf, swirling on its sides and latticed at its center. This work is typical of Véra’s output during the Second World War. Despite being removed from his home by German forces, he continued his artistic research and production, albeit with more modest means, and explored a variety of ceramic possibilities. He created tiles with exuberant and whimsical characters such as peasants and gardeners (his brother André Véra was a famous gardener) in the kiln of his friend Jean-Paul Luthringer, a sculptor in St-Germain-en-Laye. At Salon de l’Imagerie 1946, he exhibited models of ceramic tiles for bathrooms, swimming pools, fish shops and post offices. That same year, La Maîtrise of Galeries Lafayette department store ordered ceramic tiles for the decoration of an oak sideboard by Marcelle Maisonnier.   The Musée Paul & André Véra of St Germain-en-Laye has in its collection a ceramic tobacco pot with very similar figures of doves and characters painted in white on a dark brown background. This box was given as a wedding gift by Paul Véra...
