About the Item

Coffee table manufactured in Italy by Fontana Art, Model 1774, designed by Max Ingrand, circa 1958. The base is from curved blackened iron with solid brass profiles attached to the legs. The top of the table is composed of two separate parts: 1 profiled ultra clear Murano glass top on 1 green-colored mirrored concave glass creating an impressive optical effect. This masterpiece is in great vintage condition, brass profiles with beautiful aged patina, blackered iron had been polished, glass top and internal mirrored glass had been professionaly cleaned and hand-polished to its original shine. Diameter of the glass top: 31.89" (81 cm) / Table diameter including brass prifiles: 32.68" (83 cm) Height 14.57" (37 cm). Max Ingrand while running his own studio in Paris, became in 1954 artistic director of Fontana Arte founded by Gio Ponti in 1932. The Italian designing company Fontana Arte was specialized in producing exclusive furniture manufactured in the highest-quality materials, mainly glass. Max Ingrand (1908-1969) was artistic director of Fontana Arte, vice-president of the Society of decorative artists, vice-president of the union of glass and crystal makers of France and president of the alumni of the National School of Decorative Arts.
