About the Item

Sleek, architectural, and highly functional, this 'Caori' coffee table was designed by Vico Magistretti for Gavina, Italy, in 1962. A rare icon of Italian Mid-Century Modern design, the piece combines minimalist lines with ingenious hidden storage, making it as practical as it is stylish. The broad, low form features a brushed aluminum top inset within a lacquered wood surround finished in a striking peacock green color - the color falls somewhere near emerald green but with a slightly more blueish hue, pushing the tone closer to a Peacock Green. *NOTE* - we have two available in the same color (see last two photos) and an additional third table that has not been refinished yet, priced individually. Contact us if you wish to purchase a set or have any questions about the other examples. At the center, a concealed compartment opens to reveal a divided storage chamber, perfect for magazines, records, dog or human toys, smoking accessories, linen, towels, snacks, barware and more. Additional pull-out drawers at each end provide discreet storage, while drop-front doors on either side open to reveal even more space. The entire structure rests on a recessed plinth base, creating the illusion of a floating form. In keeping with Magistretti’s philosophy of blending elegance with utility, this table exemplifies 1960s Italian design innovation while also anticipating the sleek, functionalist furniture of the 1970s. This versatile cocktail table adapts seamlessly across interiors: perfect in a Mid-Century Modern home, but equally at ease in Postmodern, Minimalist, Contemporary, or Eclectic settings. Ideal for a living room, den, or media room, but also a bold statement in boutique hotel lobbies, members’ clubs, design studios, executive offices, or upscale retail spaces. MEASUREMENTS: 16.25" H x 50.25" W x 37.75" D CONDITION: Freshly refinished / restored. The brushed steel top has vintage wear, including fine scratches and a dent (see photos). Very attractive fully functional example ready for immediate use.
