About the Item
The Italian project Q.bo sculture does not intend to recreate the object in a different form but to elevate it to a real sculpture while mantaining the functional part it was create for. No longer furniture but indipendent form able to fill a space and arouse emotions by itself.
This collection called “Archeological Furniture”, wants to play and propose again a small night stand from 1950s-1960s as it could been found today in an archeological excavation, with missing and preserved parts.
Breaking down and reconstruction are in Q.Bo Sculture’s style, with the distinctive slippage and play of plans and volumes.
The missing parts are revisited and recreated in plexiglass. Every piece keeps the possibility to be used by drawers, in original wood from 1950-1960s, or plexiglass plans. Thanks to this material we have the illusion to see objects “floats” in the air.
All wooden parts are original from the cabinet broken down and intentionally left as the artisan handcrafted them 60-70 years ago.
This cabinet is a unique handmade piece.
It is possible to customise a new furniture starting from customer ideas.

Q.bo sculture
THE SMALL ITALIAN FURNITURE-SCULPTURE THAT FURNISH
The project Q.bo sculture gives new shapes to small pieces of vintage furniture from the 1950s and 1960s. The purpose of the project is not to recreate the object in a different form but to elevate it to a real sculpture while preserving the functional part it was create for. No longer furniture for living room or kitchen, hall or bedroom, but an indipendent form able to fill a space, tell a story and arouse emotions by itself.
In each piece is possible to follow all the processing phases and all the materials it is made of. Looking the backside of the cabinet, its door and drawer, we still see wood, nails, joints used originally and it is like to step in a 1950s-1960s room. This new resin “dress” and form launches the vintage furniture to our present in a contemporary style.
Q.bo sculture was born from an idea by the architect Marco Padovese, driven by constant experimentation and the desire for express himself.
Marco Padovese, after his artistic education and a degree in architecture, deals with architectural restoration, building and furniture. This new project, Q.bo sculture, develops his artistic journey where the goal is to leave a mark, to create a shape with every probable or improbable tool. He has always hands covered with stains of paint, resins, ink, cement, glue, chalk or whatever he is using to create a cabinet, a paint or a sculpture. He exhibits his works in art galleries and fairs in Florence, Venice, Padua.

The project Q.bo sculture does not intend to recreate the object in a different form but to elevate it to a real sculpture while mantaining the functional part it was create for. No longer furniture but indipendent form able to fill a space and arouse emotions by itself.
After a visit at Depero house, I had the inspiration for this night stand from 1950s. The structure has still the original wood, as visible on the inner side and original hardware, while in the cut sections a new plywood has been added.
The finish is brown and red-copper colored resin applied with a spatula in two coats. This technique creates a visual and tactile effect and gives a protection from scratches and small bumps. Furthermore the cabinet is cleanable with a damp cloth and is water-repellent.
Drawer and shuttle can be opened as originally but they are adapted to the new shape. The inside of the cabinet is natural as it shows the authentic wood...

Mattia Bonetti, Contemporary, Rare 'Seche' Console, Oak, Plexiglass, France, c. 2008
Wall mounted console table or dining table having impressed burn mark by Mattia Bonnetti. A rare opportunity to acquire what is possibly the only documented 'Seche' console by Bonetti. Certain to add value and functionality to any room in the home or office. This multi functional table can be mounted and used as a dining table, a console table or a writing desk. Provenance: Sotheby's NYC Design Lot 153 Oct 01, 2021 - Oct 07, 2021, David Gill, London
Mattia Bonnetti is known for creating innovative pieces of furniture that are as much works of fine art as they are utilitarian objects. He employs a wide range of materials, often in surprising ways, as with “Denim Armchair” (2007), a beech wood chair upholstered with salvaged blue jeans and wrapped humorously with a leather belt. In “Drops Table” (2007), walnut wood and acrylic resin are integrated seamlessly to produce a visually striking yet fully functional dining table. 30 x 49 x 32 inches
