About the Item

One of a pair commissioned by Jean Patou for his Paris maison de couture. Please note that our console retains its original traditional water gilding, creating an effect which is part matte and part burnished. The matte areas bear the original glaze, giving them a slightly greenish hue. The second console is illustrated in: Camard, Florence. Süe et Mare et La Compagnie des Arts Français. Paris: Les éditions de l’Amateur, 1993. 114.
