Narrow "Satin Walnut" Console Table with Apron and Traditional Joinery

This Narrow "Satin Walnut" Console Table with Apron and Traditional Joinery is Rustic yet refined with seamless box joints. The Spider Console Table is hand crafted by Alabama Sawyer from Alabama urban sweet gum trees. Often referred to as "satin walnut", sweet gum wood has a natural luster and is heavy, making it an ideal source for beautiful, long lasting furniture. A paneled Apron is a brilliant addition to the console table adding concealment for plugs and cords. This table is made to order and can be custom sized for use in a foyer, hallway or as an end table. Alabama Sawyer welcomes a dialogue with its customers to fit this piece uniquely in a home or office setting. Features such as sap wood and pin knots vary from tree to tree and slab to slab adding to the unique character of each table. A field-to-studio company, Alabama Sawyer repurposes the finest wood species, reclaimed from our local urban forests, to create one of a kind furniture pieces and accessories for the home or business.

About The Maker

At Alabama Sawyer, we design modern, environmentally sustainable products from fallen trees in the Birmingham, Alabama area. Since we began in 2014, we have diverted hundreds of logs from the landfill by transforming them into award-winning furniture and products for homes and businesses. Instead of letting trees waste in a landfill, we gather them from municipalities, businesses and homeowners to give them a second life. Urban wood has character. Urban wood has knots, burls and insect holes. It’s not "perfect" — it’s unique, one-of-kind and stunningly beautiful. The constraints and adaptations of growing in the urban forest creates character. We handle each log individually with an eye for the best cut. Then we mill it to show off its inner beauty. Our wood is better for the environment. Urban forests give us cleaner air and cooler temperatures. A living tree provides great value to the community — so can a repurposed one. Historically, felled city trees are taken to the landfill to decompose. Every year, Americans bury 4 billion board feet of usable hardwood trees in our city landfills. Using urban wood keeps them from releasing carbon back into the atmosphere where it contributes to climate change. Using urban wood in long-lasting furniture doesn't matter unless the design is right. Our furniture won Garden and Gun's overall Made in the South award in 2017. Our products are specified by top designers and architects nationwide and sold in cutting-edge design collections.
