About the Item
This piece has an interesting history. I originally purchased this from an estate sale in Long Island. The owners had passed, and their estate was filled with many wonderful objects. I had nearly finished my business when I happened to spot this in the garage. Originally probably a piece of wall art, it had been crudely fashioned into a plywood frame, which was beginning to fall apart. It struck me as special and exciting.
Designed by Enrique and Barbara Parker, this piece consists of a sheet of brass, acid-etched into the pattern you see here in a similar process to works by Berhard Rohne or Philip and Kelvin Laverne. I carefully extracted the sheet, and restored it to its former glory. Over the years, it had begun to accumulate discoloration and surface oxidation. It has experienced a chemical cleaning and a careful refinishing process, resulting in its original shapes coming to life again. I glued the sheet to a piece of high-strength MDF, and fashioned a completely custom frame out of square steel. We think it looks wonderful, and with its new coating, it's ready to last another lifetime. Signed "Enrique à Barbara Parker" etched into the metal.
In very good condition. The etching has been restored, and the frame is wholly custom made. You will love the robust feel and pre-Columbian look in your home. Also comes with a newly made custom piece of glass to protect the surface. Not pictured
