Italian Executive Frau Desk " Artu' President Desk" by Michele De Lucchi, 2006

About the Item

A studied and flexible system for furnishing management offices, meeting and board rooms. Artù uses high quality leather and wood, handcrafted with typical Poltrona Frau quality and attention to detail. The collection includes conference tables, meeting tables, desks and cabinets providing a wide range of furniture for a modern management office. The Meeting Table tops simply rest on a steel beam connected to the legs. The President Desk is the most sophisticated of the Artù range. Although it uses the same mounting system as the shelves, it boasts a wider top, covered in leather and lightly padded, with two openings to allow the passage of cables. The Executive Desk top is fixed directly onto the beams. The shelves are supported by two aluminum legs with a gray finish or covered in leather, equipped with a bridge base to ensure greater stability. The cylindrical legs of all Artù furnishings are equipped with a support ring tapered, the table legs can also accommodate a modern cable management system. The tops are finished in wenge, the tops are always edged in leather. Design Michele De Lucchi: Michele De Lucchi (1951-) is one of the most important contemporary Italian designers. His artistic trajectory emblematically summarizes the trajectory of Italian design in recent decades: born in Ferrara, during his university years he was one of the leaders of the student protest and participated in the front row of an occupation of the Milan Triennale. Standard bearer of radical design, he was strongly influenced by the figure of Ettore Sottsass, who he would follow in his experimental experiences with Studio Alchimia and with the Memphis collective, of which he is one of the founding members. His creations of the period are characterized by bold colors and deconstructed shapes, as in the famous First chair. At the same time he approached big industry, establishing a close collaboration with Olivetti. At the end of the 1980s he designed one of the most successful products in the history of Italian design, the Tolomeo lamp for Artemide (co-signed with Giancarlo Fassina), which led him to win his first Compasso d'Oro in 1989. It was just the beginning: three more followed in the decades to come, alongside collaborations with the most prestigious Italian brands such as Alessi, Alias, Molteni & C., Cassina, Riva 1920, De Castelli, Listone Giordano Poltrona Frau and many others. He also founded his own brand, Produzione Privata, dedicated to the limited series production of simple and precious furnishings. In parallel his studio develops an appreciated international activity in the field of architecture, creating works such as the Unicredit Pavillion in Milan or the Peace Bridge in Tbilisi.
