Very Fine 19th Century Nine Drawer Pedestal Desk

About the Item

A very fine 19th century mahogany nine drawer pedestal desk, finely hand carved, of fabulous quality and in excellent condition with rich patination and grain. The moulded top of rectangular form is fitted with a gorgeous red gilt embossed tooled leather writing skiver surface, raised over frieze with one centred long drawer flanked with two short drawers, all with reeded panelled detail and decorative brass escutcheons. Supported above moulded and shaped knee hole flanked with beautifully panelled twin pedestals, each with three graduated drawers with turned pulls and reeded detail, terminating on platform plinth base. Mahogany Type: ‘Santos Mahogany’ Knee Height: 25 in / 63 cm.
