Victorian Pedestal Partner Desk Based on 1767 Thomas Chippendale Nostell Priory

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this lovely Victorian solid mahogany twin pedestal partner desk which is an exact replica of Thomas Chippendales masterpiece created for Sir Rowland Winn in 1767 currently exhibited at his residence in Nostell Priory Yorkshire A superb mahogany partners desk of generous proportions. The top is a single solid piece of mahogany, supported on two large pedestals having extensive carvings on the front and sides with four doors. The interior having drawers to one side and vertical file dividers to the reverse. This piece is based on the famous mahogany library table made by Thomas Chippendale for Sir Rowland Winn in 1767, supplied to his residence at Nostell Priory in Yorkshire This desk really is a masterpiece, aside from being glorious to look at, an antique in its own right and something that will skyrocket in value in the years to come it’s also a very functional piece, it's naturally designed for two to share, one side has nine large drawers, all 100% solid mahogany, handmade dovetail joints, the other side has three large drawers and slotted box file type storage. We have deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished this from top to bottom, the desktop has some touched up chips to the top, the back left side has lightly faded in the sun Important note about transport: As you can see the desk is huge, luckily it dismantles, you have the two main pedestals which are solid pieces, the desktop is one piece, you then have two loose drawers and two support bars, as you see the desk pictured it is sitting on two sets of wheels for ease of mobility in the warehouse, it naturally normally sits on the floor. If you would like the desk delivered it will be sent dismantled, it’s not that complicated to reassemble but our courier is a handyman so can do it for you for a small fee Dimensions: Height 80.5 cm Width 207.5 cm Depth 131.5 cm Internal leg room Height 67 cm Width 60 cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point. Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
