An impressive authentic antique European Neoclassical style carved walnut table. circa 1900 France, late 19th / early 20th century, executed in timeless ancient Greco Roman taste, high-quality solid walnut construction, the large scale table having rectangular tabletop with stepped molded edge, supported by an architectural inspired colonnade columnar base. Raised on substantial fluted column supports, joined by colonnaded cross stretcher, further raised on bun feet. Dimensions: (approx) 30" Tall, 87" Wide, 40.75" Deep; Clearance: (floor to apron) 27.5" High As warm and handsome as it is functional, having the ideal size and proportions for a variety of different uses, including as a library table, writing desk, classic dining room table, kitchen island, monumental grand hall rectangle center table, traditional monastery refectory table, and more. Condition: Great antique condition with nicely aged warm patina. Strong, sturdy, stable, structurally sound. A most impressive and truly Provincial antique walnut table from the estate of legendary American businessman, T. Boone Pickens. Born in the charming countryside of Provence, Southeastern France, directly on the border of Italy and the Mediterranean sea, in the early 19th century, possibly 18th century. Hand-crafted from warm, rich walnut, with superb grain pattern, ornate Louis XIII style, showing heavy Italian Mediterranean influence, substantial size and proportions, featuring a rectangular top with carved molded edge, atop single large frieze drawer, with hand carved dovetail joints, paneled drawer front and original wooden pull, over a shaped apron with spiral scroll incised decorative accent. High quality craftsmanship throughout including pegged mortise tenoned joinery, rising elegantly on hand turned legs joined by finial topped "X" form turned cross-stretcher, terminating on ball feet. Retaining beautiful original patina over the whole. The exceptional antique, circa 1800, is as warm and attractive as it is functional.
