Available today, this magnificent Brazilian Modern Extendable Dining Table in Hardwood from Novo Rumo is gorgeous! This table is made of Brazilian Rosewood, as known as Jacaranda. The table has an extending board. When is closed, it fits 6 people and when its open fits 8 to 10. The top is rectangular with round corners. The structure consists of two large legs with two delicate feet each. The Jacaranda leaf is of the highest quality and the wood patterns displayed look like butterflies and are nothing less than spectacular. The piece has been refinished and besides the marks of time in the feet mostly, the piece is in excellent condition. This gorgeous table is featured in our showroom next to a set of 8 chairs in Leather and Brazilian Rosewood and the convo is nothing less than spectacular. About Novo Rumo…Francesco Scapinelli, architect, and ceramist, after working for years with his oldest brother, the established designer, Giuseppe Scapinelli, founded Studio Novo Rumo, in São Paulo. Studio Novo Rumo produced furniture at an industrial scale with excellent quality and materials such as Jacaranda of Bahia, used in many of his best pieces. Sometimes Novo Rumo pieces can be mistaken for L’Ateliers. This is because several L’Atelier employees left L’Atelier to work with Scapinelli at the newly founded Novo Rumo. Novo Rumo pieces have sharply increased in popularity in recent years-- being currently styled by many top interior designers around the globe. A quick search online will yield a treasure trove of these pieces being used in several stunning midcentury modern, modern, or contemporary environments. About Brazilian rosewood, also called Jacaranda, is perhaps one of the most beautiful woods in the world. It is regarded as one of the finest tone woods; hard, stiff, and highly resonant with a glass-like ring that sustains; it has a floral scent, like roses, thus the name. However, extensive over logging over the past three centuries has virtually eliminated this tree from the Brazilian forests, so that today it is not supposed to be logged. The only material that can be sold legally is old stock. By owning a vintage piece made of old Jacaranda, you’re not only getting a beautiful collectible but also helping this species to recuperate.
