About the Item

We present this Mira Nakashima trestle dining table with a book-matched Myrtle Burl top, black walnut base, and set of seven rosewood butterflies. This is a monumental work by Mira Nakashima, noting how infrequently burls such as this are used in large dining tables. The table was produced in 2010 and is signed underneath by Mira Nakashima. Within the top's figure, there are two exposed knots and dramatic variation in the grain. The table is accompanied by documentation from the Nakashima Studio from the order, along with a copy of the original drawing. The table measures 96 inches long by 46 inches wide and 29 inches tall. Condition generally is excellent with some light and expected wear from use. Mira Nakashima is one of the most influential designers and craftspeople of the late 20th and early 21st century. She carries on the legacy of her father, renowned designer George Nakashima. This trestle table was produced at the Nakashima Woodworking Studio in New Hope.
