About the Item

A charming rustic antique Spanish Baroque low table with beautifully aged dark rich patina. circa 1880 Versatile, today it would make for a great end table, chair side table, bedside nightstand, provide additional seating as a stool, small bench, or placed in the hall as a diminutive console. Born in Spain during the late 19th century, hand-crafted of rich walnut, high quality rustic farmhouse / country craftsmanship and pegged solid wood construction, having a single slab plank top with attractive natural live edge and old, age related wood split that adds to the antique character and authenticity, mounted over a center frieze drawer with dovetail joinery and the original turned wooden knob. In typical Spanish Baroque and Spanish Colonial taste, it features nicely detailed decorative geometric carvings. The carved and incised ornamentation begins on the drawer front, continuing around the apron, finished on all sides so it can be placed anywhere in the room. Similar to a box-stretcher joint stool, the H-form stretcher-joined base rises on four turned legs, joined by a hand hewn cross-stretcher that adds to the relaxed rustic warmth and elegant European old world charm.

A most impressive and truly Provincial antique walnut table from the estate of legendary American businessman, T. Boone Pickens. Born in the charming countryside of Provence, Southeastern France, directly on the border of Italy and the Mediterranean sea, in the early 19th century, possibly 18th century. Hand-crafted from warm, rich walnut, with superb grain pattern, ornate Louis XIII style, showing heavy Italian Mediterranean influence, substantial size and proportions, featuring a rectangular top with carved molded edge, atop single large frieze drawer, with hand carved dovetail joints, paneled drawer front and original wooden pull, over a shaped apron with spiral scroll incised decorative accent.
