19th Century Papier-mâché Mache Writing Desk and Games Table

About the Item

A superb quality Victorian papier-mâché mache writing slope and games table with an ebonised background and inlaid with mother of peal. The lid opens to reveal the original velvet lined writing slope (slight wear to the velvet) with hidden compartments to the rear. On opening the hidden compartments you can see two original glass inkwells together with the original pen with solid silver nib. (Hallmark can be seen on photo) The top part lifts off to expose the games table, which is in excellent condition. The whole piece is supported by two scrolling end supports also heavily inlaid with mother of pearl.
