Japanese Antique Primitive Side Table 1860s-1920s / Coffee Table Wabi Sabi

About the Item

This is an old primitive style side table made in Japan. It is a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture made from a combination of materials from the Meiji and Taisho periods (1860s-1920s). It has an extremely simple structure, with a thick top plate placed on top of a stump base. The top and base are not fixed and can be disassembled for easy handling. Both the top and base are made of solid chestnut wood. The top panel is an extremely thick single piece of wood measuring approximately 55 mm, a valuable material that is hard to find today. The coloring and texture of the surface created by age tell that it has been used for many years while being reworked, giving it a deep taste and presence. This side table can be used in a variety of ways, such as as a display stand or a coffee table. It will bring a unique tranquility and warmth to your space. It is a one-of-a-kind gem that is imbued with the spirit of wabi-sabi. Weight of the tabletop 18kg Weight of pedestal: approx. 40 kg ______________________________________ Our Philosophy Objects always tell the truth. All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give them deep affection as much as I can. There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty. But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing today and to question us about an essence of beauty again. I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have, feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
