This is a truly magnificent antique Edwardian Goncalo Alves and marquetry inlaid upright display cabinet by Edwards & Roberts, circa 1890 in date. The cabinet is bordered with boxwood lines and decorated with scrolling foliage, cherubs, mythical creatures, urns of fruit and anthemions The moulded and simulated dentil cornice is above a pair of glazed panel doors with a mirrored back. The cupboard below with a pair of panel doors that open to a spacious cupboard. This is a sublime satinwood and marquetry desk by Edwards & Roberts, Circa 1880 in date. This gorgeous desk is freestanding and has been crafted from beautiful satinwood which has been masterfully inlaid with a marquetry of ribbons, swags and garlands. The rectangular top is beautifully framed with walnut cross-banding and features an inset gold tooled green leather writing surface above seven capacious drawers. The desk is raised on squared tapered legs that terminate in the original brass castors. It bears the stamp of the renowned cabinet makers Edward and Roberts in the centre drawer. Complete with the original handles and working loks and key. This elegant desk will make a wonderful addition to your home or office. Here we have a very large and impressive late Victorian cylinder bureau made by the well-known and much sought after Victorian cabinet maker and retailer Edwards & Roberts of Wardour Street, London. Our antique furniture experts have dated this Victorian cylinder bureau to have been made around 1880. The desk has been fully and meticulously restored by craftsmen in our own workshops and we consider it to be of “museum quality”. This lovely Victorian Cylinder Bureau would make a bold statement wherever it was situated. Anyone who selects a piece of furniture this impressive to make their place of work will know that this cylinder bureau not only looks good but is also extremely practical. Just look at the copious amount of storage that is on offer for a start. As you can see by looking at the range of photographs supplied, the Bureau houses numerous cupboards as well as a range of drawers of varying sizes and capacity and numerous other storage areas to accommodate copious amounts of stationery, books, office supplies and anything else that you like to have at hand when working. The cylinder bureau can be positively attributed to the makers and suppliers Edwards and Roberts of London as it has a plate showing their name, as can be seen in the gallery of photographs. An exceptional late 19th early 20th century satinwood pembroke table by Edwards & Roberts, of oval form with twin drop leaves, the top with central oval banded fanning patera within radiating border of inlaid garlands, above a single frieze drawer on channeled tapering legs. Their business also involved retailing, adapting and restoring the finest antique furniture and there are many examples of their earlier furniture with later embellishments bearing their stamp. Edwards & Roberts specialized in marquetry, inlay and ormolu. Edwards & Roberts was one of the principal London companies working in the taste of the late 18th century.
